Key to the Icons
The
following icons are used throughout the site to signpost the various elements which comprise a given piece and are required for performance.
First is indicated the type(s) of score, or notation. This is divided into three kinds, with some scores involving several:
1. two-dimensional (printed), and using conventional staff notation or an extension thereof (e.g.
anfractus, nonsense):
2. two-dimensional, and using invented notation, or notation which deviates significantly (e.g. Ebryxa,
放 - Fàng):
3. three-dimensional, indicating those works which I have termed “notation-installations” (e.g. Cneas, Hilling):
Then is indicated whether there are associated texts beyond ordinary performance notes (e.g. Cneas, frequency illusion):
Whether there are associated images or photographs (e.g. frequency illusion):
And whether an instrument has been made specifically for the piece
(e.g. frequency illusion):
And finally whether there is an audio/tape element:
